POST FALLS – The Post Falls Rotary Club is excited to be celebrating the city’s German heritage this coming weekend by hosting its first “Prost in the Park” event! Taking place at the Q’emiln Park pavilion on Saturday, September 30th, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., this free, family-friendly event promises a delightful array of Oktoberfest-style activities, delectable cuisine, and refreshing beverages.
Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to groove to the tunes of FOUR local bands and can even partake in dance lessons, including the famous chicken dance and various line dances. Adding an extra dash of German-themed flair, a roaming oompah entertainer will be on hand to amp up the festivities.

Musical highlights include:
  • The Theresa Edwards Band (11 a.m. - 12 p.m.):  A talented, upbeat, fun group that plays a wide variety of dance music.
  • Devon Wade (1 p.m. - 2 p.m.): An independent country artist hailing from Sandpoint, whose music centers on authentic, real-life themes.
  • Super Chrome (3 p.m. - 4 p.m.): A solo acoustic, acoustic quartet (of popular music) and full party rock band covering an extensive musical spectrum from Sinatra to Blink 182.
  • The Happiness (5 p.m. - 6 p.m.): A cover band belting out hits from the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and today.

Satisfying the palate, the Post Falls Rotary Club will serve up a sumptuous German feast of bratwurst, sauerkraut, and German potato salad at just $10 per plate. The Burger Dock, Taco Works, and the Sugar Shack food vendors will also be on site to ensure a culinary experience to suit every taste.
For the young ones, free face painting and all ages obstacle course style bounce house await from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meanwhile, adults can partake in an array of Oktoberfest-inspired libations, perfectly suited to warm hearts for the autumn season. Individual beers will be available for $7, or grab two for $12.

Featured alcoholic beverages include:
  • Spaten Oktoberfest Märzen
  • Apple Cobbler Cider
  • Firestone Walker Oktoberfest Lager
  • Radio Brewing Oktoberfest Lager
  • Paragon Czech Pilsner
  • No-Li Brewing Big Juicy
  • Post Falls Brewing (To Be Determined)
  • Nutrl Vodka Seltzers

All funds raised from the event will be utilized by the Rotary Club to fund lighted crosswalks in the school zones of Post Falls, various scholarships, books for elementary-level students, and celebrating attendance/successes with students at New Vision High School.

Rain or shine, the Post Falls Rotary Club envisions this event not just as a one-time occurrence but as an evolving German-themed counterpart to the beloved Post Falls Days celebration.

“Prost in the Park has the opportunity to grow into something really big while also celebrating our city’s German heritage,” Rotary Secretary and event organizer Christina Petit said. “We’re looking at it to be a family-friendly Oktoberfest-style festival that we hold every year.”
Frederick Post, the namesake of Post Falls, was born in 1821 in Herborn, Germany. In 1871, he met Coeur d'Alene tribal Chief Andrew Seltice at what is now known as Treaty Rock, purchasing 298 acres which would eventually become the heart of Post Falls. This shared history has led Herborn, Germany and Post Falls to recognize each other as sister cities.
