About Us

The City of Post Falls is a Mayor/Council form of government with a City Administrator and provides a wide range of municipal services, including public safety, finance, public works, community development, waste water, and parks and recreation. In Post Falls, citizens have varied opportunities to participate in their government by serving on city commissions, attending City Council meetings, City meetings on City projects and by participating in elections.
Post Falls is an inviting place to live, work, and play. Bounded on the south by the Spokane River, the City offers its residents the enjoyment of small community living with the advantages of big city and resort opportunities.

Post Falls, incorporated in 1891 is named for Frederick Post, a German immigrant who constructed a lumber mill along the Spokane River in 1871 on land he purchased from Andrew Seltice, Chief of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. Located four miles east of the Washington-Idaho border along Interstate 90, it is in close proximity to numerous lakes, rivers and mountains. Just minutes to the east is Coeur d’Alene, ID, with a reputation as a world travel destination due to the five-star Coeur d’Alene Resort and golf course with a floating green. To the west is the largest city in the region, Spokane, WA. Post Falls’ unique location between these two diverse cities offers Post Falls residents varied opportunities in their lifestyle, recreation and doing business.
