Minecraft to Maker: Prusa Slicing for 3D Printing (Level 2) (Ages 11+)
Date:
April 9, 2026 - April 30, 2026
Event Description:
Ready to bring your digital worlds into the real one? In this exciting Level 2 maker class, students who already have experience with TinkerCad and Minecraft will level up their skills by turning their virtual designs into real 3D printed creations! In this hands-on class, young designers will explore how architects, engineers, and game creators move ideas between digital platforms and physical models. Students will design buildings, castles, bridges, and imaginative structures in Minecraft and TinkerCad, then learn how to export their creations as STL files and prepare them for 3D printing using Prusa slicing software. Along the way, students will learn how to: ??? Design creative architectural structures in Minecraft and TinkerCad ?? Move designs between platforms—importing from TinkerCad into Minecraft and exporting Minecraft builds for printing ?? Use Prusa slicing software to prepare models for successful 3D prints ??? Understand how printers turn digital files into real objects layer by layer ?? Refine designs so they are strong, printable, and beautifully detailed Students will discover the real-world workflow used by designers and engineers while experimenting, problem-solving, and bringing their imagination to life in both digital and physical form. If you can dream it, design it, and build it in Minecraft, you can slice it and print it in the real world! Note: This class is the second in s series on a Gizmo pathway to certification for using 3D printers independently in the makerspace at age 14+. Students earn badeges on this pathway that align with Gizmo certification requirements on a Beginner Maker-->Skill Building Maker->Certified Maker in the 3D lab. Certified Maker badges confirm the student has learned and can demonstrate the required skills necessary to be independent in the lab. Requirements; Must have experience with TinkerCad and Minecraft. All March 3D Printing and Minecraft students have met this requirement. Age: 11+
