Event Description:
Session Dates (2): Saturday, January 17th Saturday, January 24th Time: 10:30 AM - 12:30PM Description: Learn how to use a laser cutter to turn digital designs into precise, real-world creations. A laser is an amazing tool that uses a focused beam of light to engrave and cut through materials such as wood, leather, and acrylic. In this class, you’ll learn how to create your own custom designs using vector software, set up your design files for the laser cutter, and operate the machine safely. We’ll walk through how to use tools to design a 3D box structure or any size and shape, customize the panels with patterns or imagery of your choice, and prepare everything for cutting. Your final project will be a personalized box lantern—fully designed by you from the structure to the decorative details—giving you hands-on experience with both digital design and fabrication. All the details you need to be certified on the laser at Gizmo will be covered during the class, and there will be an opportunity to certify at the end (Note: certification is not guaranteed and is up to the instructor's evaluation of your capability). Age: 16+ Cost: $75 (includes materials) Instructed By: Kathryn Reece
