Event Description:
This course continues to teach the fundamentals of working in the metal shop with copper and essential tools. Students must have taken the 'Copper Cuffs' or 'Copper Dish w/ Steel Stand' prior to joining this class. Session Dates (2): Tuesday, December 17th Wednesday, December 18th Time: 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM Description: In the first class, students will be working with steel using fire, anvil, various hammers, and a few power tools. They will learn how to work with hot metal through the processes of forging, twisting, and shaping into form. In the second day, students will form copper with hammers on a wood block, heating to anneal and hammering to work harden the copper. They will learn melding metal and copper though the process of brazing in putting together their ladle. They will finish off the class by cleaning and sealing steel handle in beeswax. Students must wear closed toed shoes and attire which is natural fibers. (Cotton, wool, denim, etc....) No synthetic clothing (polyester, spandex, nylon, etc...) Prerequisites: Students are required to have taken the Copper Cuffs or 'Copper Dish w/ Steel Stand' course prior to this class Age: 16 years or older.
